DESCRIPTION
German bulk carrier "Halstenbek" sunken 23/11/1996 in morning in distance of 40Nm from Niechorza -- reported PAP, relying on Coordination Center of Polish Maritime Rescue in Gdynia. Four crew members -- two Lithuanians, Estonian and German -- were rescued. In Friday they were searching for the fifth one a German. "Halstenbek" sunken around 3 am. He was carrying around 936 ton's of corn to Darłowo. During a storm it tilted around 40°, maybe cause of the cargo movements. Before the sunken the crew send an distress signal SOS and evacuated to the lifeboat.
Wreck of the vessel is laying on 36-38m.
The wrecks length is about 70m.
