DESCRIPTION
The ship was built in 1965 in the Atlas- Werke shipyard in Bremen (Germany) for a German customer , to finally get to the Danish company Partrederi " Trigon " in Copenhagen. The first name is " Monika Munksholm " , then " Monika Trigon " . Mainly stationed in the port of Helsingborg .Company Rederi K / S Westcoast of Denmark, appointed a unit called " West Star" . Ship's last cruise was in Sunday 25 October 1971 years during sailing from Gdansk to England with a cargo of timber. At 2:55 Central European Time because of a growing heel inexorably increased by a raging storm and the only engine failure gave the signal " may day ... " . On Friday the 30th at eight in the morning, after an exhausting fight for a vessel which has tried to save , rescue tug " Tumak " boats R-3 and the " Shell " and rescue station boundary of Leba. Unfortunately, Captain Olsen was forced to disembark West Star last. During the rescue operation all the members of the crewwere saved. At present, the wreck is located approximately 200 meters from the shore at a depth of several meters at a height of Ulinia . Above the water rise two massive towers a walk along the sea about 3 hours from Leba walked toward the wreck. During sunny weather, the distance can be seen protruding from the sea dark gray columns masts.
