DESCRIPTION
British cargo vessel - coal vessel, launched into service at 1777 in Whitby. Sunken in big storm on 27 September 1785 close to mouth of Piaśnica, near a village Dębki, in cruise from Stockholm, marked as "Wreck W-32". Master William Hustler (1753-1785) and 17 members of the crew died in the disaster.
Ship built at Thomasa Fishburna shipyard in Whitby, the same one, as HM Bark Endeavour (it had the same dimensions, construction as HM Bark Endeavour), on which master James Cook made his first expedition (1768-1771). Named in honor of gen. Guy'a Carletona (1724-1808), servant of British Army in Southern America in the war for independence in USA on the British side as an governor of Quebec.
Cause of the ships sinking on 27 September 1785 anchoring close to the Piaśnica mouth was sudden weather change with strength of a hurricane, what caused rupture of the anchor or anchors and dragging them, which caused the movement of iron cargo. Excavated monuments like the ship's bell with an inscription "General Carleton of Whitby 1777" which enabled the ship's identification. In all around 700 monuments from the XVIII century where taken out. For example everyday use items, navigation items, collection of British Maritime clothing, coins, weapon etc.

DIVING DESCRIPTION
Wreck of the ship strongly covered in sand. It's equipment is to see in the Maritime Museum Gdańsk.
